If you're going to waste your time, better do it properly
Here's something I've wanted to do for ages: make spacescape wallpapers for my desktop. It's not perfect or anywhere near extraordinary (my first attempt, please bear with me), but I'm going to keep on trying and learning from my mistakes.

The nebula like thingy in the background was made by scrambling together a couple of gradients and then smudging them and blurring them like mad. Gotta brush up (pardon the pun) on my nebula-painting skills some day
The stars are made by combining a self-made starfield pattern with some random bright dots, made with ye old faithful paintbrush...
